Waikato Stadium was well drained and fast. Fine conditions, but strong north east wind favoured NZAS in first half. Coaches said forwards were solid and team vastly improved its discipline and decision making. Captain Wetere outstanding and was awarded player of the day. Strauss again worthy of mention. McNaughten, May and Malo also prominent. Harlequins showed strong team spirit. Being the Harlequins ‘test match’, all boys greatly enjoyed the experience of playing at Waikato’s premier ground.
